Dark Fruit Cake

Preparation Time: 1 Hour 20 Minutes

Ingredients:
- Fruits and nuts:
        6 pound mixture of green and red candied cherries, candied pineapple, pitted dates and walnuts.
- Lquid
        Mixture of 1/4 cup strong coffee, 3/4 cup of wine, brandy, vodka, or bourbon or all of these
- Cake:
        2 teaspoons baking powder
        1 teaspoon baking soda
        4 teaspoons cinnamon
        1/2 teaspoon cloves
        2 cups brown sugar
        1/2 cup butter
        1 1/2 cups shortening
        3 tablespoons vanilla
        1 cup light molasses
        6 eggs
        6 cups flour

Instructions:
Mix cake ingredients as for all cakes. Pour cake batter over fruit mixture and mix thoroughly. Grease bread tins and line with brown paper (grocery sack type). Makes 7 bread tins approximately 4 inches by 7 inches by 2 1/2 inches. Bake in slow oven about 250 degrees F. about 1 hour.
